Tamale or Tamales are made from masa dough filled with meat, vegetables and spices, or fruit and wrapped in a corn husk (or banana leaf) and steamed until hot.
Let’s see the ingredients of this free mexican recipe, chicken tamales.
Ingredients:
01) 6 cups Maseca corn Masa mix for tamales
02) 1 cup corn oil
03) 6 cups of chicken broth
04) 2 tablespoon of salt
05) 1 tablespoon of baking powder
06) 1 bag corn husks
07) 1 and 1/2 large chicken rotisserie
08) 2 cans salsa verde or we may use tomatillo sauce
Let’s see the preparation of this free mexican food recip , chicken tamales.
Preparation:
In the first step we will take warm water and Soak the corn husks and then we will make it soft in that warm water.
Now we will blend it in the very next step with the help of electric mixer Maseca corn masa mix for tamales, corn oil, salt, baking powder and the chicken broth to obtain a consistent mixture.
Now we are going to shred the chicken and marinate in the green salsa or we may use tomatillo sauce instead of thi.
Now in the very next step we will Spread masa evenly over corn husks, and spread a spoonful of marinated chicken on top of the masa.
Now we are going to fold the sides of corn husk and to center it over the masa. The purpose is to that they over lap to make package.
NOw we will fold the empty sides of husk so that it rests against the sides of tamale with the help of stream.
NOw we are going to place the tamales in a streamer and cook it for 30 to 40 minutes.
We will Check every 20 minutes. The tamales are cooked when they separate easily from corn husk.
